Availability of Services: All services are subject to availability.
Fitness to Drive: You must possess a valid provisional, full, or international driving license, which you must present along with your National Insurance number before your first training session. You must also meet legal, medical, and optical (eyesight) requirements to be deemed fit to drive.
Personal Data Collection: Any personal data provided by you will be securely held and managed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Fees & Payments: Tuition fees for standard driving lessons are typically due on the day of each lesson. 1st Gear Driving School Bedford acts as an intermediary for your driving instructor and does not handle payments from pupils. Payments for driving lessons are made directly by you to your driving instructor. 1st Gear Driving School Bedford assumes no responsibility for any payments made directly to driving instructors.
Your Driving Instructor: Your driving instructor operates as a self-employed franchisee of 1st Gear Driving School Bedford. The contract for driving tuition exists solely between you and your driving instructor.
Driving Lessons: The contract for driving lessons is exclusively between you and your driving instructor. You and your driving instructor are responsible for agreeing upon all aspects of each lesson, including timing, location, and duration.
- You must inform your instructor of any factors that may affect your ability or entitlement to have a driving lesson.
- Cancellations: Either you or your driving instructor must provide a minimum of 48 hours’ notice to cancel or change a lesson. Cancellations must be communicated directly between you and your driving instructor. Failure to give sufficient notice may result in your instructor charging for the lesson(s) affected. Your driving instructor reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or alter lesson times and durations under certain circumstances (e.g., hazardous weather). Fees paid in advance for postponed lessons will be carried forward. Your driving instructor also reserves the right to cancel a lesson at short notice if there is reason to believe that you may be unfit to drive due to alcohol, drugs (prescribed or otherwise), or any other condition that could compromise safety or legality. In such cases, the lesson fee remains payable.
Driving Tests & Bookings: Your driving instructor reserves the right to decline the use of the driving school vehicle for your test if providing a vehicle is deemed to pose a risk to public safety.
